The headline numbers from the latest published DORA report, with the methodology caveat that matters.

DORA stopped publishing named Elite / High / Medium / Low tiers in 2024 and now presents the distribution as percentile bands DORA 20242024.

Year-over-year shift

Compared to the 2023 report, the median did not move materially; the elite tail thickened slightly (more teams in the sub-5% band) and the long tail thinned slightly. The dominant story is methodology change (tier removal), not performance change DORA 2023 Report2023.

The methodology caveat

DORA is a self-reported survey. Teams without measurement infrastructure cannot accurately report CFR, and there is mild selection bias toward teams already invested in DevOps practice. Read the distribution as "teams that measure" not "all software teams."
