Direct answer
90-day windows are appropriate for quarterly board reporting and low-deploy teams (under 5 deploys per week). They mirror the DORA survey cadence DORA 20242024 but lag tactical signal by up to 8 weeks.

Would a DORA vendor pay back at this CFR?

Assumes a 40% CFR reduction (the published Sleuth median, scaled). Quote-only vendors do not display a per-seat rate.

The staleness trade-off

A 90-day CFR is structurally stable but slow to reflect change. If you ship a CI improvement on day 1, the headline metric will not fully reflect it until day 90. Pair the 90-day with a 30-day trailing window to keep tactical signal alive.

Board-deck framing

For a Series-C board deck: report the 90-day headline number, the 30-day trend line, and the DORA percentile band. Anchor "improvement vs prior quarter" against the rolling 90-day so the comparison is apples-to-apples DORA 2024 Report2024.
